Stephanie Grotta becomes Principal at Coen + Partners/January 2009

Stephanie is promoted to Principal at Coen + Partners, and joins Shane Coen as the leadership of Coen’s New York and Minneapolis studios. With over ten years experience in landscape architecture and a tenure with Coen + Partners for eight of those years, Stephanie has been an integral part of the design and management of numerous award winning projects.

Stephanie’s experiences with Coen + Partners range from leading large, diverse collaborative teams to innovative urban solutions, to quiet, yet bold residential landscape interventions. Guided by unyielding attention to cultural significance and material clarity in the design of projects, Stephanie’s talents and contributions to Coen + Partners reverberate through numerous projects. Notable projects include: Westminster Presbyterian Church Courtyard and Columbarium, Xcel Energy Plaza, Target Atlantic Station, Lafayette Yards, Soranno Residence, the Butte Heritage Project, Gwanggyo Pier Lakeside Park, and others.

Stephanie continues to serve as an adjunct assistant professor with the College of Design at the University of Minnesota, focusing on digital expression in landscape architecture and the relationship between representation and project intent. She also lectures and guest critiques for a variety of audiences including Target Corporation, Association for Women in Architecture, and Auburn University’s School of Architecture.

When asked about her mentors and inspirations, Shane is the first to come to mind. They have developed a mutual respect and camaraderie in the realm of business development and design, and Stephanie is honored to step into this role during this pivotal time in the firm’s history.
