Target Plaza   Atlanta, Georgia

The plaza for Target Atlantic Station is located in the heart of a multi-million redevelopment site near Midtown Atlanta. The site, formerly home to
the largest steel manufacturer south of the Mason-Dixon line, sat vacant for many years. Now, the 120 acres is being redeveloped into a mixed use
community with offices, high-rise living, and a major shopping district.

The Target Plaza is the only large public space within Atlantic Station. The site strategy involved creating a thoroughly modern and flexible plaza
offering space for large groups, individuals, and other programmed activities. Long lines, illuminated by LED strip lights, run perpendicular to the store
and in line with the Midtown skyline. Placed along these lines are a series custom sun canopies constructed of raw steel and translucent eco-resin; these
canopies provide shelter from the sun while creating reflected patterns of color on the concrete surfaces. Parallel to the building, a ten-foot high vine
screen hides the parking garage and offers a blooming facade of jasmine. At the street edge, twelve foot high vine columns mark the edge of the plaza
and are illuminated at night.
