Candidates would support existing and new project teams working on local, regional, and national urban public realm projects, Department of State Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO) Design Excellence projects, and international work that includes a city-wide cycling and pedestrian mobility network and a 22-mile redevelopment corridor that includes highway removal, detailed design of more than 1,000 acres of urban park and recreation space, multiple transit-oriented development districts, comprehensive green and blue infrastructure, and an integrated health and wellness program.


Candidates must be passionate about design and design thinking, proactive problem-solvers, and highly skilled in conceptualizing, developing and implementing sophisticated and complex landscapes and urban design projects. Key responsibilities for these positions will include leading the design of projects in a multi-disciplinary team setting, fostering a collaborative team environment, and supporting the development of new systems and processes to improve project delivery. These positions will be integral in project visioning, client and community engagement, business development, and the long-range growth and diversification of the studio.

As part of our evolution, we are seeking a specialized design-phase project manager with experience designing and deploying operational systems and facilitating effective communication across multi-disciplinary teams.  Candidates may range from early-career to senior-level experience.  This position is for a full time or long-term contract position in support of a major international landscape urbanism project, including a city-wide cycling and pedestrian mobility network and a 22-mile redevelopment corridor that includes highway removal, detailed design of more than 1,000 acres of urban park and recreation space, multiple transit-oriented development districts,  comprehensive green and blue infrastructure, and an integrated health and wellness program.

Preferred candidates will have the following attributes:

  • 5-20 years of design experience

  • Experience overseeing and driving the design process of multi-disciplinary teams on a range of project sizes

  • Ability to mentor and develop staff across all skill levels

  • Discipline and confidence in managing and coordinating complex projects with multiple team members and stakeholders

  • Desire and ability to travel internationally

  • Fluency in Arabic is not required, but beneficial


Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and track the scope, schedule, and budget for all areas of the project

  • Develop and maintains systems for coordination, reporting, documentation, and invoicing

  • Work with the Design Director to facilitate communication across all project teams

  • Coordinate site visits, meeting times, coordination calls and client check-ins

  • Coordinate with subconsultants, and project cost manager

  • Work with the Project Director to coordinate weekly progress reporting to design teams and client for all areas of the project

  • Coordinate the collection and distribution of data, decisions, and actions across the design team and the Client for all areas of the project

  • Travel to partner offices and to the project site every 6-8 weeks to meet with the Client and coordinate with stakeholders

Project Designers are the primary production force across all projects in the studio. They are empowered to collaborate with Project Managers and Principals from the early conceptual stages of a project and will provide the research, graphics, and documentation to support design efforts. Under the supervision of Project Mangers, they will develop projects from Concept through Construction Documentation and will be actively engaged in Construction Administration.


Preferred candidates will have the following attributes:

  • 2-7 years of design experience

  • Ability to take proactive ownership of projects and responsibilities

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and work independently

  • Developed understanding and approach to contemporary and contextual based planning and design

  • Experience working on all stages of a project, from concept design through construction documentation

  • Basic understanding of construction techniques and documentation systems

  • Strong conceptual thinking with an ability to communicate ideas graphically, verbally and in written form

  • Discipline and confidence in complex problem solving

  • Desire and ability to travel internationally

  • Capacity to work across multiple representation platforms, including hand graphics (sketches and renderings); AutoCAD; Revit; Illustrator; InDesign; Photoshop; Rhino and SketchUp.

  • Fluency in Arabic is not required, but beneficial

  • Minimally a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, or Graphic Design from an accredited program (Master’s degree preferred).


Job Description:

  • Support project managers in the coordination of multi-disciplinary design teams

  • Develop meaningful research and analysis of physical and cultural context to support design concepts; and products, planting, and materials to support detailed design development

Executive / office assistant

Job Description:

As an executive / office assistant, you will contribute to a fast paced, creative and professional design studio environment providing administrative support to the Leadership Team of Coen+Partners and the office. We are currently a 24 person studio.

Reporting directly to the CEO, CFO  and Managing Partner, this position provides executive support. The Executive Assistant must be strategic, tenacious, methodical, organized and enjoy working within an  entrepreneurial environment that is mission and results driven.

The ideal individual will have the ability to always be several steps ahead of the leadership and office, have strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

Roles and Responsibilities


Executive Support 

  • Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Leadership Team (3) including: managing active calendars of appointments, composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compiling documents for travel-related meetings.  

  • Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming emails and issues and concerns addressed to the Leadership Team and determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response. 

  • Works closely and effectively with the Leadership Team to keep him/her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately.

  • Successfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting letters, personal correspondence, and other tasks.

  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.


Administrative Support

  • Keeps all licensures current as well as required continuing education by state

  • Researching, Hosts, organizes and sets up for all meetings and workshops held in the office

  • Greets and builds relationships with clients. Answer the phone and manages voicemail.
