Ahmed Tawakol

Director

Ahmed is trained as an architect and a landscape architect and has practiced urban design and master planning in the U.S., U.K., Netherlands and China with some of the most influential design companies. In his work, he aims to read, interpret, and carefully disrupt processes in a way that blurs the line between the built and the untouched, between art and pragmatism.

With 25 years of experience, Ahmed is a proactive leader who brings an integrated multidisciplinary approach to every project and focuses on ecological urbanism and the latest sustainability techniques. He is a champion of inclusivity in design and of challenging the status quo by utilizing his versatile expertise in toggling between a wide range of scales, programs, and typologies.

Ahmed is curious by nature, a purist, and a natural designer who never tires of asking the “why” for each design challenge. These traits are not confined to just his design character, they are reflected in his personal life as design and life are intricately connected for him. In his spare time, you can find him exploring the streets of different cities with his wife and daughter, observing and understanding more about the dynamics of open space and trying a new food stalls.
